I’m Neil Foulkes, a freelance website designer and WordPress developer working with businesses across the UK, including Liverpool and the North West. I build websites around the content you need to publish and the tasks your visitors need to complete.
Whether you are planning a new WordPress website or improving an existing one, you’ll work directly with me to review the requirements and agree what needs building.
A WordPress website shaped around your content
Development decisions affect the everyday work of managing your website. Before building, we’ll discuss which pages and sections you need to edit, how your services and projects should be organised and what visitors need to do next.
The aim is a practical website with content controls suited to your business. New requirements are scoped around the existing setup rather than assuming every change needs a complete rebuild.
New builds and improvements to existing websites
For a new site, I turn agreed layouts into a working WordPress website, with testing and handover included in the project discussion. If you also need help with structure and visual design, explore my web design service.
For an existing site, we’ll first review its theme, content and functionality. That helps establish which changes are practical, which limitations need attention and whether focused development or a larger project makes sense. Any additional features are assessed and quoted against agreed requirements.
Agree the build before development begins
We’ll identify the pages, editable content and required functionality, then agree responsibilities for copy, images and access. Testing should cover the finished layouts, links, contact routes and the content-management tasks you expect to handle.
My website brief checklist and template can help you gather that information. If you are comparing proposals, the website-costs guide explains the scope questions to ask.

Questions before you start
Can you work on an existing WordPress website?
We can start with a review of the current site and the changes you need. The theme, functionality and available access determine what can be retained and what needs further investigation before quoting.
Can I update the finished website myself?
We’ll agree which content you need to manage and plan the editing controls and handover around those tasks. Changes outside those controls may need further development.
What happens to SEO during the project?
For an existing site, discuss important content and URLs before changing the structure. SEO support can be scoped alongside development; search rankings are not guaranteed by a new build.
Is hosting and maintenance included?
WordPress hosting, maintenance and ongoing support are agreed separately around the website’s requirements. We’ll clarify responsibilities and recurring costs before work starts.
Discuss your WordPress project
Tell me about your website, the changes you need and who will use it. We can review the requirements and agree the next step.
